The Maison's inaugural venture into fragrance occurred with the introduction of its perfume collection in 2019, a curated assortment of aromas for both daytime and evening use, inspired by Slimane's personal diaries.

Celine's eight new luxury candles, two of which will be introduced later this year, will reflect Slimane's personal past and pay homage to the esteemed traditions of French perfumery, a legacy the brand characterizes as couturier parfumeur.
The eight candles in the collection will showcase the signature powdery and alluring aromas from Celine’s fragrance line, including Nightclubbing, which evokes the scent of nicotine and 'the nape of a neck infused with vanilla', alongside new fragrances such as Palimpsest, a fusion of gallica rose, pear, ivy, and moss, and Grands Lys, a captivating amalgamation of pimento, ylang-ylang, and heliotrope. These fragrances not only reflect those present in Slimane’s residence but also embody the salons of the Maisons de couture, the Maison’s establishment in Paris.

Under Slimane's direction, these candles were crafted by the in-house wax artisan, whose expertise in perfumery—a rare qualification for a wax maker—has endowed him with an exceptional comprehension of the interplay between scent and wax in room diffusion. Each wax is formulated based on its smell, utilizing six to seven waxes and oils for each perfume concentrate, along with a distinct wick dimension for each aroma to enhance diffusion.
The candle series adheres to the same olfactory profile as the perfumes, characterized by a powdery and addictive hallmark. In each formulation, premium natural elements integrate seamlessly with refined accords. As time passes, their sounds permeate the surroundings, imparting an imperceptible and subdued patina on familiar objects.

The elegant black candle containers draw inspiration from 18th-century silver goblets, featuring a multi-panel design crafted by Slimane to reflect the confidence of the fragrances. The monochromatic aesthetic is distinctly modern in style. This is accompanied by supplementary candle accessories, including a candle snuffer, wick trimmer, matches, and a carrying box crafted from the Maison’s Triomphe canvas.

If this does not initially evoke the allure of a timeless fragrance, it undoubtedly will with the passage of time. Similar to all fragrant items under the romantic traditions of French culture.
