Blending art and horology, the collaboration applies Vides’ instantly recognizable monochromatic style to two iconic G-Shock designs.

G-SHOCK is officially merging illustration with reality. Casio has unveiled a remarkable collaboration with respected visual artist Joshua Vides, combining its iconic, practical durability with the vibrant realm of modern graphic art. Utilizing his distinctive "Reality to Idea" idea, the limited-edition release effectively transforms stark, two-dimensional comic visuals into striking, three-dimensional clocks based on two of the brand's most recognizable shapes.
The partnership draws inspiration from the esteemed 5600 and 6900 watch lines, emphasizing a stark, monochromatic black-and-white color scheme. The timepieces appear as if they have been completely hand-drawn on paper, utilizing advanced multi-angle printing processes. The DW5600JV-7 features a pristine gloss white finish adorned with striking, black marker-like lines on the band, case, and dial. Conversely, the circular DW6900JV-1 serves as a visual counterpart, featuring a matte black exterior accentuated by pronounced white contoured stripes that resemble erratic pen strokes.

In addition to the impressive appearance, the partnership features nuanced, custom design elements that render these timepieces genuine treasures. The dials display handwritten function labels in Vides' unique manner, and engaging the LED Super Illuminator backlight unveils a concealed graphic of his characteristic traffic cone pattern. Upon inverting the watch, proprietors will discover a custom-engraved stainless steel case back featuring the artist's signature. Certainly, beneath the elaborate design, these models maintain the classic, unwavering durability anticipated from Casio. The DW5600JV-7 and DW6900JV-1 include a shock-resistant design, 200-meter water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, and a multi-function alarm.
Presented in bespoke co-branded packaging, these items are essential for both avid watch collectors and enthusiasts of modern street art. The DW5600JV-7 and DW6900JV-1 will be launched exclusively at the G-SHOCK x Joshua Vides Pop-Up event in Los Angeles on March 13 and 14, followed by a broader countrywide distribution through JoshuaVides, the G-SHOCK Soho Store, and select retailers on March 16.
