The Italian designer reinterprets London’s famed department store.

In London, the Christmas season is not truly recognised until the illumination is activated, and one particular display we have been eagerly anticipating this year originates from Harrods. Annually, the esteemed department store collaborates with a prominent brand or designer, responsible for enhancing its exterior and windows for the holiday season. This year, it is Brunello Cucinelli's opportunity. This document contains all pertinent information regarding Harrods' holiday display for this year, including details on how and when to view its Christmas lights.
The Cucinelli family travelled to London earlier this week to reveal Harrods' new Christmas facade, designed in partnership with the Umbrian fashion label Brunello Cucinelli. The exhibit vividly embodies the brand's 'Feelosophy' idea, characterised as the Solomeo 'way of life,' allowing visitors to engage with the essence of the Italian town through a multisensory experience throughout the department store.
The Brunello Cucinelli takeover at Harrods encompasses both indoor and outdoor areas, featuring an extensive window display that occupies 21 windows along Brompton Road and Hans Crescent, culminating in a distinctive six-meter tall Christmas tree in the pedestrian zone, accompanied by video projections at the main entrance. Internally, the narrative progresses with two themed pop-up installations on the sixth and ninth floors. Harrods will present an exclusive collection of clothes from Brunello Cucinelli that encapsulates the 'Feelosophy' ethos.
An In-Depth Examination of the Windows

The 'Feelosophy' concept predominates the display, accompanied by a distinctive narrative that spans Harrods' windows. The fashion house elucidates that the narrative is conveyed by our protagonist, Philo, a pristine white griffin inspired by the Solomeo insignia, with tales of the half-lion, half-eagle creature acting as the custodian of Umbrian culture and identity.
The narrative is divided into six segments, first in the village of Solomeo, where Philo observes the progression of life, culminating in the villagers' departure for contemporary urban existence. As the final artisan departs from Solomeo, Philo succumbs to a profound slumber.
However, upon the arrival of a 'young dreamer' in the town, he becomes enchanted by its allure and historical significance. He envisions resurrecting the village, so prompting a breeze to toll the ancient tower bells — reviving Philo once again.
The griffin thereafter flaps its wings, agitating the clouds and unsealing the entrances to Solomeo’s residences and workshops, therefore revitalising the hamlet. This also enables the hamlet to ascend into the atmosphere, upheld by delicate threads and clouds. Philo, observing the transformation, is capable of transporting the hamlet from Italy around the globe, pausing at the metropolis of London. Philo's adventure culminates at Harrods.
