Bell & Ross has released the BR-05 Grey Mirror Steel, a limited-edition timepiece exclusive to boutiques, designed to make a striking visual impact. Restricted to merely 250 units globally, the robust timepiece enhances the Swiss horologist's BR-05 collection by accentuating mirror polishing and monochromatic minimalism, while preserving the technological underpinnings of its iconic sport watch.

The BR-05 Grey Mirror Steel replaces conventional luminescence with a highly polished steel case, bracelet, and dial that reflects surrounding light. Steel is integral to the design concept, serving as both a colour and a source of illumination. The satin-finished and mirror-polished surfaces are intended to mitigate steel's industrial character and produce a sculptural appearance that accentuates the watch's geometric form.

The BR-05 Grey Mirror Steel, measuring 40 millimetres in width and 10.5 millimetres in thickness, contains the automated BR-CAL.321-1 movement, providing a 54-hour power reserve. The movement has been altered to eliminate a date function, enhancing the watch's basic look. The hours, minutes, and seconds are presented on a mirror-polished rhodium-plated dial, including corresponding applied indices and hands engineered for optimal legibility despite the reflecting surface.

Bruno Belamich, co-founder and creative director of Bell & Ross, characterises the dial in a brand statement as resembling “sculpted from a block of pure metal,” emphasising that its polished surfaces render the watch a reflective object, eschewing conventional luminous materials. He described the sculpture as a "jewel-watch" and a futuristic embodiment of the BR-05's individuality.

The timepiece is equipped with a sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating and a sapphire caseback that exposes the rotating rotor. The water resistance is rated at 100 meters. Purchasers may select from a polished-satin steel integrated bracelet or a black rubber strap equipped with a steel folding clasp.

Launched in 2019, the BR-05 series notably signified Bell & Ross’s transition from cockpit-inspired utility watches to a more adaptable, urban-centric design aesthetic. The BR-05 Grey Mirror Steel, although maintaining the brand's "circle within a square" motif, prioritises refinement and visual impact above technical elements, showcasing a distinctive glossy look.

The BR-05 Grey Mirror Steel is now priced at $5,800 with a rubber strap and $6,300 with a stainless steel bracelet.
