Crafted in Japan from Takiron acetate, titanium, and Shima Optics lenses, the “Ultimate Driving” sunglasses will be released on July 11, merging vintage motorsport aesthetics with contemporary workmanship.

Team Ikuzawa has collaborated with Japanese eyewear expert Native Sons to introduce the “Ultimate Driving” Sunglasses, set to launch on July 11, 2025. The limited-edition frames, branded “Tetsu” in honor of racing icon Tetsu Ikuzawa, are crafted for both drivers and riders, merging vintage motorsport aesthetics with contemporary utility.

Each pair is meticulously handcrafted in Fukui, Japan, with bespoke Takiron acetates, gold- and silver-plated titanium, and Shima Optics lenses. Straight temples are designed to fit helmets, while the lenses are equipped with anti-reflective and hard coatings to enhance clarity and minimize fatigue.

The initiative, spearheaded by Mai Ikuzawa, is inspired by icons such as Senna, McQueen, Newman, and Françoise Hardy, with the objective of reviving a period where style and performance coexisted without compromise. “Aviators appeared formulaic,” Ikuzawa elucidates, adding, “This frame needed to elicit emotion.”

Creative director Tommy O’Gara of Native Sons co-developed the design, while the campaign showcases British racer and designer Nick Ashley and was photographed by renowned fashion photographer Frederike Helwig. The promotion is further enhanced by the appearance of a Tuthill Porsche 911K — a $1,100,000 USD, sub-850kg carbon-bodied automobile that accelerates to 11,000 rpm. The eyeglasses and campaign collectively honor independent spirit, artisanal craftsmanship, and a lifetime enthusiasm for speed.

Additional information will be forthcoming on Team Ikuzawa’s official site.
