Seiko enhances its Astron collection with two new GPS Solar Limited Editions, the SSH187J1 and SSJ039J1, both inspired by the visual spectacle of a swirling spiral galaxy. The SSH187J1 showcases a freshly crafted embossed spiral-pattern dial intended to conjure "a mysterious galaxy of swirling stars," complemented by a dark turquoise surface laced with glitter to simulate cosmic illumination. The SSJ039J1 adheres to the galaxy-inspired theme, designated as one of two "new stars emerging from the darkness" in the 2026 Astron collection. Both variants feature an all-black case and bracelet, enhanced with a scratch-resistant hard coating, preserving a profound jet-black lustre that accentuates the celestial motif.
The SSH187J1 is equipped with Seiko’s Calibre 5X83, which provides GPS time-zone adjustment, a 1/20-second chronograph, dual-time capability, and a perpetual calendar valid until February 2100. It provides a six-month power reserve on a complete charge and ensures an accuracy of ±15 seconds every month while disconnected from GPS. The SSJ039J1, a component of the Astron GPS Solar series, incorporates GPS solar functionality, guaranteeing accurate global timekeeping without the need for battery replacements. Both models have a bracelet equipped with a fine-adjustment clasp system to enhance comfort and wearability.
Both versions are slated for availability in January 2026, with the SSH187J1 limited to 1,500 units, priced at €3,000 EUR (about $3,526 USD). Simultaneously, the SSJ039J1 will be priced at €2,500 (about $2,938 USD). For additional information, see Seiko's official website.
