Louis Vuitton enhances its cultural discourse on art, legacy, and innovation through a notable show at Espace Louis Vuitton New York, featuring two masterpieces by Gustave Caillebotte - Young Man at His Window (1876) and Boating Party (ca. 1877–1878).

This show, organized in partnership with the Fondation Louis Vuitton, musée d’Orsay, and the J. Paul Getty Museum, signifies a significant achievement in the Maison's commitment to fostering international cultural interaction.

The presentation, scheduled from October 28 to November 16, 2025, examines the nuanced emotional and visual relationships between these two major works. Both paintings — one an intimate exploration of solitude and urban reflection, the other a radiant representation of leisure and freedom on the sea — demonstrate Caillebotte’s exceptional command of perspective and atmosphere. They engage in a profound discourse regarding the intricacies of contemporary existence as perceived through the perspective of one of Impressionism's most enigmatic personalities.

The exhibition will include a press preview on October 27, succeeded by a special discussion with Katherine Elizabeth Fleming, President and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust; Paul Perrin, Chief Curator and Director of Conservation and Collections at the musée d’Orsay; and Jean-Paul Claverie, Advisor to the Chairman of Fondation Louis Vuitton. They will examine the lasting impact of Caillebotte's oeuvre and the institutional cooperation that facilitated this uncommon conjunction.

The exhibition's centerpiece, Boating Party—designated a "national treasure" of France and acquired in 2022—travels for the first time since becoming part of the nation's cultural heritage. The juxtaposition with Young Man at His Window, graciously lent by the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, creates an artistic connection between continents. The project was facilitated by LVMH’s cultural patronage, highlighting the group's continuous commitment to preserving and disseminating the world's artistic history.

The exhibition at Espace Louis Vuitton New York encourages viewers to contemplate movement, emotion, and modernity—principles closely associated with the Maison's ethos of travel and creativity.
