G-Star Raw has appointed Botter co-founders Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh as its inaugural creative directors since 2018. A report by Business of Fashion indicates that the life partners and creative pair, renowned for their Caribbean-inspired luxury label, will derive inspiration from G-Star's 1990s prominence for their inaugural collection.

The Amsterdam-based business, established in 1989 by Jos van Tilburg, specializes in avant-garde denim and streetwear, particularly recognized for the iconic Elwood pants launched in 1996. The much favored garment will serve as a primary source of inspiration for their inaugural collection, which is scheduled to be presented at Paris Fashion Week next January. The founders, having been raised near the Dutch capital, expressed their enthusiasm by stating, “[G-Star was] always this pride of Holland.” Our inclusion in that entity fills us with pride. The recent creative modifications occur two years subsequent to G-Star Raw's acquisition by WHP Global, which also oversees Bonobos and Rag & Bone.

The Botter team founded their line in 2017, swiftly attaining notoriety as LVMH prize finalists in 2018 and leading Nina Ricci from 2018 to 2022. Since then, the duo has persistently showcased its varied, "aquatic" aesthetic through runway presentations in Paris and collaborations with brands such as Reebok, adidas, and others.
