After the 2025 Escale Turquoise and Malachite platinum models with ornate stonework, Louis Vuitton introduces the Escale Tiger’s Eye, a limited edition of 30 pieces that transcends traditional stonework in dials.

Louis Vuitton's inception as a supplier of steamer trunks and innovator of the stackable travel trunk established the brand's connection to the Art of Travel, a motif that permeates numerous product lines, including timepieces. The aptly titled Escale travel-themed line, signifying stopover or port of call, experienced a substantial transformation in 2024 and is now established as the brand’s minimalist, time-only dress watch featuring understated heritage elements.

The watchmaking industry is currently experiencing a resurgence of stone dials, analogous to a second Stone Age. Nonetheless, the Escale has enhanced the trend by incorporating stone not only on the dial but also to embellish the case centre. In 2026, the selected gemstone is Tiger’s Eye, a variant of the chalcedony mineral family characterised by golden and brown stripes that produce chatoyance, an optical phenomenon reminiscent of the enigmatic eyes of cats. One of the most challenging processes is cutting and milling the Tiger’s Eye to create the monolithic stone ring encircling the case midsection. The stone ring, crafted at LV’s La Fabrique des Boîtiers, is moulded to tiny tolerances and subsequently hand-polished.

The stone ring's qualities effectively utilise the Escale's trunk-inspired parts, fashioned in yellow gold. Similar to the riveted brass brackets safeguarding the corners of Louis Vuitton's classic trunks, the angled and riveted lugs of the Escale shield sections of the case's midsection. The protruding yellow gold bezel and caseback protect the curving Tiger’s Eye from unintentional impacts and strikes.

The 40mm yellow gold components enhance the warm, enigmatic radiance of Tiger’s Eye. The dial, likewise produced at La Fabrique des Boîtiers, is machined to precise tolerances. Resembling a porthole, it showcases a golden satin-brushed minutes track adorned with polished studs and riveted gold bracket-style hour markers. The hour and minute hands are fashioned from yellow gold, but the seconds hand is composed of titanium with a PVD coating.

The LFT023 automated chronometer-certified calibre, adapted to incorporate central seconds, is developed, conceived, and encased by La Fabrique du Temps and produced by Le Cercle des Horlogers. The 22k rose gold micro-rotor operates at a frequency of 4Hz and has a power reserve of 50 hours.

The Escale Tiger’s Eye features a Saffiano leather strap in savannah brown, complemented by a yellow gold pin buckle. The watch, a limited edition of 30 pieces, is priced at EUR 55,000. Explore more at louisvuitton.com.
