Parmigiani Fleurier’s smallest time-only Tonda PF is reimagined with a subtle pale pink dial, adding a gentle elegance to the minimalist design.

The Tonda PF, a luxury sports watch series by Parmigiani Fleurier, was launched in 2021. The Tonda PF collection offers a sophisticated, minimalist version of the luxury sports watch, featuring several complexities. Initially offered in 40 and 42mm case dimensions, the firm addressed demands for more compact, unisex sizes by launching a 36mm variant of its 40mm Tonda PF Micro-Rotor in 2022, omitting the date window. The Tonda PF 36mm, a sophisticated and elegantly designed timepiece, features a discreet pink Alta Rosa dial.
In contrast to most luxury sports watches characterised by robust angles and dominant personas, the Tonda PF collection embodies the principle of “discreet luxury.” The Tonda PF highlights restraint, harmonious proportions, and exquisite finishing, honouring designer Michel Parmigiani’s designs inspired by the Golden Ratio.
The Tonda PF, measuring 36mm x 8.6mm in stainless steel, features a classic round case with a knurled platinum bezel and elegant teardrop-shaped lugs that seamlessly integrate into the bracelet. It is equipped with a screw-down crown and meets the criteria for a luxury sports watch, boasting a water-resistance rating of 100 meters. Its slender 8.6mm height is marginally thicker than the 40mm Tonda PF Micro-Rotor, which features a 7.8mm profile.

The new Alta Rosa model features a delicate pale pink dial and showcases the signature grain d’orge (barleycorn) hand-guilloché pattern that defines the series. The hue closely resembles that of the recently launched Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante featuring an Arctic Rose dial; however, we will verify this when viewing the watch in person. The dial features a deliberately simple design, showcasing hand-applied 18k gold rhodium-plated indexes, skeletonised delta-shaped hands, and an oval medallion at noon inscribed with the initials PF. Consistent with its subtle design, there is no evidence of luminescence, and the sole lettering is the Swiss Made designation on the outer pink minute track.
In contrast to the 40mm Tonda PF, which is driven by a micro-rotor, the 36mm model utilises a core 22k gold skeletonised rotor, resulting in a little elevated profile. Parmigiani's proprietary automatic 4Hz calibre PF770, engineered exclusively for the 36mm case, is remarkably slender (3.9mm) while providing a substantial 60-hour power reserve. The sapphire caseback exposes the Côtes de Genève on the bridges, the bevelled edges, and the polished and sandblasted sections of the skeletonised gold rotor. The Tonda PF Automatic 36mm Alta Rosa is priced at CHF 21,900. Additional details can be found at parmigiani.com.
