The original Ford GT need no celebrity association to incite a bidding frenzy; yet, a 2005 model personally owned by the esteemed Fast and Furious star Paul Walker was certain to stimulate interest among prospective purchasers in the latter seconds of a Bring a Trailer auction.

Within only one hour, a swift succession of bids elevated the celebrity-owned American supercar from $564,000 to a final price of $627,000. The Drive indicates that this amount is considerably greater than the $478,000 the identical vehicle achieved at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week auction in 2021. It is also considerably greater than the upper limit of Hagerty’s $556,000 appraisal for a 2005 Ford GT in immaculate condition.

Walker’s ownership has elevated the value, while its rarity as one of only 14 out of over 4,000 total Ford GTs made without a racing stripe in Mark IV red further enhances its worth. The vehicle is exotic in every iteration, having been renownedly created by Camilo Pardo with aluminium body panels and an aluminium space frame, paying homage to the Ford GT40 race cars that triumphed at Le Mans from 1966 to 1969.

The supercharged 5.4-liter V8 was equipped with an aluminium block, cylinder heads, and pistons directly from the factory. The factory-rated output was 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Walker’s included a chrome supercharger assembly, an Accufab throttle body, an aftermarket ECU calibration, and an aftermarket exhaust system.

The Brembo four-piston monoblock callipers were painted red to complement the body. The cockpit features Ebony leather upholstery and is equipped with carbon fibre Sparco racing seats, which include GT40-style ventilation grommets and harness slots. The console in the centre tunnel contains rotary climate controls, while features comprise a McIntosh CD stereo, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, and push-button ignition.

The remarkable sale of Walker’s Ford GT may lead to an increase in market value for 2005-2006 models.
