Established in 1974, Credor is Seiko’s premium brand designed to exemplify Japanese haute horlogerie, creative craftsmanship, and ultra-thin watchmaking. Initially confined to Japan, Credor commenced its global growth in 2024 with the introduction of the Locomotive model, a timepiece initially conceived by Genta, and will reinforce its standing as it is set to be showcased at Watches & Wonders 2026. On this occasion, Credor introduces a new iteration of its Goldfeather Tourbillon, the Limited Edition GBCF997, a modern dress watch that reflects the slender, lightweight, and elegant attributes of a feather, now adorned with intricate linear engravings.

The new Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 replaces the conventional Japanese lacquer decoration of the previous year's model with a radial engraving produced by a grinding process across the dial, complemented with linear engraving on the Roman numerals and the visible movement components. This unique engraving method, initially utilised on Credor’s calibre 68 over three decades ago, is defined by precise grooves that reflect light. To prevent damaging the components of the ultra-thin movement, artisans at Credor's production customise each tool to the curves of their hands for enhanced pressure control.

The dial possesses a nearly satin-like texture, achieved by a grinding method that mimics the softness and diffused light reflection of a feather. The ultra-fine Roman numerals, originating from the center of the dial, are produced by meticulously directing the chisel along the same line, progressively deepening the incision. The remarkable mastery of the grinding method is evidenced by the continuous theme that extends over the two separate, layered sections of the dial. The outer chapter ring displays elongated, precisely defined Roman numerals, hand-engraved in relief, while the minute track showcases nanako engraving, a classic Japanese technique involving carefully aligned dots created with a round-tipped chisel. Subsequent to engraving, a slender anti-corrosive coating is affixed to the dial. The tourbillon, positioned behind a meticulously designed and skeletonised bridge at 9 o’clock, is blue, harmonising with the precisely delineated hour and minute hands.

The flip side presents an additional, more ostentatious exhibition of Credor’s engraving expertise. The prominent linear engraving, adorned with nanako dots, radiates forth from the center of the tourbillon's carriage bridge, extending uniformly across four distinct components. Augmented with an arashi pattern — a collection of dispersed dots meticulously etched with a hexagon-tipped chisel – the result is undeniably beautiful. The trademark indicates that the movement undergoes a brushed treatment prior to engraving. Consistent with Credor's premium reputation, the Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 is encased in an opulent 38.6mm hand-polished platinum casing with a slender 8.6mm thickness. The smooth sapphire crystal on the reverse showcases Credor’s calibre 6850, which is governed by a tourbillon escapement and equipped with an expansive mainspring and barrel, ensuring a 60-hour power reserve.

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Engraved Limited Edition GBCF997 features a traditional black crocodile leather strap and a triple-folding platinum clasp with a push-button mechanism. This is a limited edition of 25 units, priced at EUR 195,000. Additional details are available at credor.com.
