The new 44mm watch reintroduces early Panerai design elements featuring a domed sapphire crystal, a vintage dial configuration, and a three-day power reserve, set to be available in retailers this month.

Panerai is revisiting its maritime heritage with the launch of the Luminor Marina PAM01759, a limited-edition timepiece of 1,000 units that fuses Italian archive influences with contemporary Swiss craftsmanship. The timepiece honours the Florence-based brand's first contributions in providing precision instruments to the Italian Navy.
The PAM01759 has a 44mm stainless-steel case adorned with a domed sapphire crystal, subtly yet distinctly referencing early underwater instruments created for military divers. The black dial features a complete Arabic numeral configuration covered with green Super-LumiNova, reflecting the visibility standards necessary for divers in low-light environments. A small-seconds subdial at 9 o’clock alludes to ancient instruments utilised for watch functioning in underwater operations.
The watch has Panerai’s automatic P.9010 calibre, a three-day movement composed of 198 components and powered by two spring barrels. The mechanism facilitates rapid adjustments of the hour hand without influencing the minute hand—beneficial for travellers transitioning across time zones. The PAM01759 conspicuously excludes a date window to preserve a more pristine and historically authentic dial.

The watch is designed for resilience, with water resistance up to 30 bar (about 300 meters). Every watch features a sealed stainless-steel caseback inscribed with its limited-edition number. It is equipped with a dark brown antique calf leather strap and a trapezoidal pin buckle, along with an additional black rubber strap for more durable use. Alessandro Ficarelli, Panerai’s chief marketing and product officer, stated, “The Luminor Marina PAM01759 transcends mere timekeeping; it exemplifies our commitment to fusing historical inspiration with contemporary innovation.” He stated that reinterpreting essential archival elements inside the popular Luminor Marina range reinforces the company's enduring connection to its legacy.
Established in Florence in 1860, Panerai dedicated decades to manufacturing instruments for the Italian Navy before its ideas, formerly safeguarded by the Military Secrets Act, were introduced to the international market after the company's acquisition by the Richemont Group in 1997. Currently, Panerai manufactures its timepieces in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, amalgamating Italian design heritage with Swiss mechanical proficiency.
The PAM01759 will be available in Panerai boutiques starting in December for $10,200, and will be packaged in the brand’s distinctive wooden box, characteristic of its limited-edition releases.
