Nike has officially introduced a new preorder system named SNKRS Reserve, which has the potential to transform the release of highly coveted sneakers. The recently announced initiative, revealed on August 24, provides sneaker enthusiasts on the SNKRS app the opportunity to obtain a pair of a highly sought-after shoe prior to its public release.

The program's launch featured an exclusive early reservation for the forthcoming Kobe 3 Protro "Christmas," a sneaker scheduled for release later this year. Nike states that the new method aims to optimize production decisions while granting access to novel, exclusive products. By permitting fans to reserve a pair in advance, Nike can more accurately assess demand, thereby ensuring the appropriate quantity of pairs is manufactured.

Although a conventional SNKRS release is marked by chaos, the SNKRS Reserve program offers a more transparent approach for highly sought-after drops. The system functions on a restricted, first-come, first-served principle, permitting only one reservation per account to maintain equity. This action alleviates a prevalent annoyance for sneaker enthusiasts while also fostering trust between the brand and its primary audience. This new system may render experiencing a loss on drop day obsolete.
