Hublot is reinterpreting the embellished timepiece with a winterised iteration of its Big Bang Unico. The limited-edition luxury watch has a 42mm casing made entirely of translucent sapphire, resembling an ice sculpture for the wrist that is impervious to melting or scratching due to its exceptional hardness and scratch resistance.

The core of the UNICO movement HUB1280 is an in-house mechanism safeguarded by five patents, which encompass its two oscillating horizontal clutches, anti-trembling system, zero-friction ratchet wheel blocker, constant-pressure minute wheel friction system, and balancing wheel fine adjustment mechanism. This festive model features an oscillating weight, visible through the caseback, designed in the shape of a snowflake, and includes interchangeable white and ice-blue rubber-lined calfskin straps.

The release coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Hublot Big Bang, which redefined the luxury watch sector upon its introduction in 2005 by integrating traditional precious metals with ceramics and natural rubber. The flagship Big Bang line received immediate acclaim; a white ceramic and titanium model gained that year's prestigious Design Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

In 2010, the Big Bang Unico enhanced Hublot's reputation with its inaugural self-winding chronograph movement incorporating a flyback function, enabling the chronograph to be immediately reset and restarted with a single button press, as opposed to the conventional three-step process (stop, reset, restart).

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire, priced at $75,000 and limited to only 30 units, is available upon request. An economical version, restricted to 200 units, with a titanium and ceramic casing, is offered for direct purchase at $26,300.
