Initially introduced in 1975 as one of the premier sophisticated sports watches featuring an integrated bracelet and chronometer-certified quartz movement, the Laureato FIFTY honors its legacy while advancing the Manufacture into the future of horology.

Girard-Perregaux's heritage as a Manufacture of Design and Movements originates from 1791. The company early on differentiated itself by using a high degree of vertical integration and the "manufacture model" from the inception of the industrial revolution, opting to conduct all production phases internally. This ethos of innovation and integration resulted in significant accomplishments. The Laureato originated from this philosophy following an innovative quartz research and development initiative in the late 1960s, resulting in the GP350 caliber, which established the industry-standard frequency of 32,768 Hz, accompanied by a sleek, octagonal bezel that defined the norm for refined luxury in integrated sportswatches.

The steel and 3N yellow gold tonneau case features a polished finish reminiscent of the first bicolor models, while enhancing angles and bevels for a modern aesthetic. The alternating satin-brushed and polished octagonal bezel encases a deep sunray-grey dial featuring an embossed Clous de Paris design, complemented by applied 3N gold-plated pink gold indexes and sword hands, a gold “double-arrow” counterweight on the central seconds hand, and a date aperture at 3 o’clock that matches the dial. Flat sapphire crystals on both the front and rear augment visual sophistication, accompanied with a water resistance of 150 meters.

The wrist features a tapering steel-and-gold “H”-link bracelet that reflects the original bicolor design, now incorporating shorter links, half-link micro-adjustment, and a triple-folding clasp with octagonal push-pieces and a 4 mm fine-tuning mechanism. The Manufacture's new GP4800 automatic caliber is visible through its sapphire caseback, featuring a silicium escapement, variable-inertia balance, ten unique finishes, and a 55-hour power reserve.
