This is the inaugural Royal Oak "Jumbo" featuring a flyback chronograph and a flying tourbillon.

Audemars Piguet has introduced the Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph RD#5, representing the conclusive version of its innovative Research & Development line. For the inaugural occasion in its 50-year history, the Royal Oak “Jumbo” integrates Gérald Genta’s renowned 39 mm by 8.1 mm dimensions with dual complexities, all encased in a lightweight titanium structure and featuring the Maison’s signature Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 dial. Two radial subdials accompany a flying tourbillon that prominently operates at six o’clock.

The newly designed Calibre 8100 integrates a flyback chronograph with a flying tourbillon and a distinctive instant-jump minute counter. The Maison's R&D team conducted a comprehensive ergonomic analysis to minimize chronograph push-piece travel to 0.3 mm and decrease activation force to 300 g, drawing inspiration from contemporary smartphone buttons, all while preserving complete water resistance and tactile precision.

The RD#5 features a subtle function-selector crown instead of the conventional pull-out stem, along with flat glass-box sapphire crystals that are hollowed inside to maintain the watch's slim appearance while ensuring adequate hand clearance and automatic-winding performance. This milestone model, restricted to 150 instances, signifies a new era for Audemars Piguet's innovation ecosystem. The price is CHF 260,000 (about $326,518 USD) and it is offered solely at the Maison's boutiques.
