Returning to its exploration of temporal perception, Parmigiani Fleurier introduces a rose-toned expression that brings warmth and nuance to its distinctive rattrapante minute display.

Although life offers no certainties, it is improbable that you will get weary of a watch that consistently brings you joy. The recent introduction of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante Arctic Rose serves as a reminder of this. Two years prior, when the watch was a horological debut, we noted that it elicited foolish grins from devotees due to its enjoyment factor. The successful concept of the brand's GMT Rattrapante, characterised by its visually concealed intricacy, was adapted to incorporate an additional minute hand rather than an hour hand. What is the reason? To develop a countdown feature that serves as a diver's bezel for the formally attired audience. It was whimsical and distinctive, which is significant considering its costliness. This new Arctic Rose variant is visually appealing.
The focal point here is, undoubtedly, the dial. Designated as “Arctic Rose,” it deviates significantly from a conventional salmon or copper dial. It is said to exhibit a crystalline nature, altering colours with the light; we have not manipulated it in the metal to verify this characteristic of the pale palette. Parmigiani Fleurier emphasises that this is not simply a fashion statement; it is a historical reclamation or potentially sartorial justice.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, rose was associated with masculine refinement and distinction; however, this perception shifted due to marketing and social shifts in the mid-20th century. By restoring this hue to masculine horology, the company asserts an aesthetic liberated from convention, referring to it as “the language of a confident elegance.” The dial is adorned with the company's distinctive Grain d’Orge guilloché pattern. We anticipate that it will be produced in a meticulous pattern, producing a fascinating texture that imparts depth and dynamism to the dial.
Although the appearance has altered, the essence of the watch remains unaltered. The brilliance of this watch, for those who overlooked its 2023 debut, resides in its paradoxical simplicity. At first appearance, it seems to be a straightforward two-handed dress watch. Concealed in plain view is an additional minute hand in rose gold, positioned beneath the rhodium-plated real-time hand. It remains latent until the function is engaged, becoming manifest only when invoked. The "private luxury" is housed in a 40mm stainless-steel case, with a slim thickness of 10.7mm. It showcases the collection's distinctive knurled platinum bezel, a hallmark we continue to appreciate.
The Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante Arctic Rose is powered by the Calibre PF052, an automated movement with a micro-rotor that is both visually appealing and mechanically adept; it is the identical movement that was utilised in the initial edition released in 2023, priced at CHF 29,700.
