Bremont watches are renowned for their durability in many environments, including jungles and oceans, as well as challenging terrestrial endeavours. However, the British watchmaker now aims for the lunar frontier with the introduction of the Bremont Supernova Chronograph. Among a multitude of striking timepieces unveiled this week at Watches & Wonders, the Bremont Supernova Chronograph stands alongside IWC’s Pilot Venturer Vertical Drive, which has attained spaceflight certification from commercial space travel partner Vast. The timing is fortuitous, coinciding with the cultural significance of the NASA mission “Artemis II,” as Bremont unveils its own innovative partnership with the American aerospace firm Astrolab.

The watch is scheduled for deployment on Astrolab’s FLIP (FLEXLunar Innovation Platform) rover, with an anticipated landing near the lunar south pole in summer 2026 through Astrobotic’s Griffin Mission One (Griffin-1). The offering enhances Bremont's emphasis on "Sea, Air and Land," which has recently adopted an ultra-minimalist approach with the streamlined Bremont Terra Nova Jumping Hours, while also embracing a maximalist aesthetic with the unveiling of a skeletonised GMT monopusher at Dubai Watch Week last autumn. The watch pioneers unprecedented advancements in lunar exploration, according to Bremont, coinciding with NASA's efforts to define parameters for a Coordinated Lunar Time. The Bremont Supernova Chronograph will be permanently positioned on the moon, marking a first for British timepieces, according to the adventure-ready horologist. Bremont elucidated that, for the first time, a watch will not merely accompany a space voyage but will persist on the lunar surface as a permanent artefact, signifying a new milestone in humanity's presence beyond Earth. The two businesses have implemented a "ruthless testing program" for the timepiece, which features a traditional integrated sport band and is constructed from 904L stainless steel.

The timepiece, part of the Altitude line, alongside the Supermarine and Terra Nova series, features what Bremont describes as “a distinctly futuristic aesthetic.” It enhances its 41mm structure with a three-dimensional case design and a decahedral black ceramic bezel, ensuring lightweight durability and performance. The horologist drew inspiration from the cosmos to create the aesthetically pleasing dial, using design elements from spaceship solar arrays and solar sail panels, while white Super-LumiNova imparts a heavenly blue luminescence to the dial.

The moon mission-ready timepiece features a 62-hour power reserve and a chronometer-rated BC77 movement, complemented by a quick-release integrated rubber strap alongside its robust yet sporty integrated steel band. The ambitious milestone indicates a new phase for Bremont as it gazes towards the cosmos, the corporation stated. We are immensely enthusiastic about the possibility of becoming the inaugural British watch brand to travel to the Moon and remain there indefinitely', stated Davide Cerrato, CEO of Bremont. To incorporate a lunar-themed timepiece into your watch collection, visit Bremont, where prices commence at approximately $8,849 for the rubber strap variant of the audacious Bremont Supernova Chronograph.
